In the concluding remarks of this project, I want to recap some of my favorite aspects of YouTube as well as bring in some other favorite clips that I have relating to Asian American representation in Media and more importantly YouTube. As you have seen, there are many interesting clips on YouTube dealing with Asian American stereotypes as well as some images that you would find in mainstream media. One example of such a movie is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqqVPOJEEEU (click here to see it)which is a gathering of different videos shown on television that deal directly with these issues. I hope this project opened your eyes to the variety of media found on YouTube dealing with race. The other interesting factor that was probably not originally intended by YouTube was the immediate, often racial, response to this new form of media in the message board below the videos. Some of the content was just designed to be funny like the Japanese hidden camera show, while others dealt with important race issues like Asian girls dating white men. There were also many different depictions of race that we see in other forms of media like TV and movies that are also shown on YouTube. The last things that were addressed was the worldwide (mostly focused on south Asian) view of potentially racist material found on YouTube. I hope you found this project as interesting as I did as it really highlights the changing world of media and how YouTube will play a large role in the future.
