Extra Curricular Computer Activities

Lower School Digital Photography Club

Students in grades 3 and 4 regularly take digital photos of school events. They meet during the school day to plan photo shoots, to use computers to edit their photos, and to develop a wide variety of visual displays and web pages to share their work with others. View one of their projects by visiting our Fall Festival Photo Page.

Lower School Tech Team Assistants Clubs

Students in grades 2, 3, and 4 meet during the school day in one of three grade level computer clubs. They share their expertise, review the latest technology information, and plan and carry out schoolwide, computer related, community service projects. Club members provide a valuable service by helping both teachers and students throughout each school year. Visit our TechTeam Assistants Web Page.

Lower School Video Production News Club

Students in fourth grade meet during the school day to record and broadcast a morning WMSM-TV News Show. They serve as news, weather, special features and sports anchors. Members also participate as directors, camera videographers, audio specialists or iMovie editors. Students research and create scripts, film our news, and share this news with the entire lower school student body via our internal video broadcast system. To learn more about this club go to WMSM-TV News.

Middle School Robotics Club

The Robotics Club meets two times a week during activity time. Students build motorized Lego Dacta robotics as well as other robotics kits. Some students choose to program their creations using the Lego Dacta RoboLab software. At the end of each quarter, we visit the Kindergarten class to share our creations and explain the process.

Internet Safety

The Internet links thousands of computer networks around the world, giving students access to a wide variety of computer and information resources. In general, electronic traffic passes freely in a trusting atmosphere with a minimum of constraints.

McLean School does not have control of the information on the Internet. We encourage all parents to develop an acceptable home use policy for the Internet outside of school.
