Dear McLean Families,

The information below will help you determine the appropriate transportation for the coming year. Per our lease agreement with our landlord, Montgomery County Schools, and in consideration of our neighbors, McLean School has agreed to limit the amount of vehicular traffic in the neighborhood to a minimum. Only those cars/buses/van services authorized by McLean will be allowed to drop off and pick up from the school during arrival and dismissal times. As such, we have developed a transportation system for all students to and from McLean School.

We provide three options: satellite, cluster, and door to door service. The general overview will assist you in your selection and once selection / assignment has been made, we will furnish a color coded, numbered tag, rules for the specific location, list of families at your location and a detailed map. As ever, if you have additional questions, please call us for clarification.

If you miss your bus in the morning, please note that you must wait until 9:00 a.m. before dropping student(s) at the McLean campus for late sign-in.

Satellite Sites (no extra fee)

White Flint Center - Enter from Rockville pike at the entrance between Bloomingdale’s and White Flint Medical Center. Proceed up the hill to the auxiliary parking lot on the right hand side. Buses depart at 7:55 a.m. and return at 3:25 p.m. (12:25 p.m. on dismissal days).

Cabin John Shopping Center - This location is for families who live south of Tuckerman Lane. Enter the shopping center from the second entrance off of Seven Locks Road. Drive past the Exxon station across the rear parking lot to the pick up point next to Popeye’s restaurant. In the morning, there will be two buses leaving at 8:00 a.m. and the third bus will leave at 8:10 a.m. For the afternoon departure from McLean, students are assigned a specific bus and may only change buses with approval of the Transportation Coordinator. Please arrive for the afternoon pick up at 3:15 p.m. (12:15 p.m. on early dismissal days).

Potomac Wood Shopping Center - (In the proximity of Montrose and Seven Locks Roads and I-270) This location is for families who live north of Tuckerman Lane. Buses depart at 8:00 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. for the McLean campus and returns at 3:20 p.m. (12:20 p.m. on early dismissal days).

Latter Day Saint’s (11700 Falls Road in Potomac) Buses depart at 8:00 a.m. for the McLean campus and return at 3:15 p.m. (12:15 p.m. on early dismissal days).

*Upper School Shuttle &emdash; Students who are eligible to drive cars will park at the Cabin John Shopping Center. (Behind the Giant grocery store). There will be a designated shuttle for the Upper School students only, which will leave at 8:00 a.m. and return at 3:15 p.m. No student is allowed to park on campus on a regular basis unless approved by McLean School. In the event of lateness, students must park at the Cabin John Shopping Center and catch the Ride &emdash;On Bus, which runs until 9:00 a.m. After the completion of the school day, upper school students may park on the campus for after school activities. We realize that extenuating circumstances do occur and, as such, will furnish each licensed driver with four free passes (one pass per quarter) to park at McLean during the school year. These privileges are to be taken seriously and any abuse will cause revocation of the passes.

Cluster Sites ($1,650.00-DC & $1800.00-VA round trip per student)

Westmoreland Circle at the Briggs Memorial Baptist Church (5114 Massachusetts Avenue) Bus departs at 7:25 a.m. and proceeds to the Geico lot. It returns at 3:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. on early dismissal days).

Friendship Heights at the Western Avenue entrance to Geico &emdash; Bus departs at 7:35 a.m. and returns at 3:20 p.m. (12:20 on early dismissal days) prior to proceeding to Westmoreland Circle location for a last drop off.

Chesterbrook Shopping Center -Old Dominion Road /McLean, VA

Driving east on old Dominion Road, the center is located on the left side of the road. The pick point is in the parking lot in front of the Safeway. Bus departs at 7:30 a.m. and proceeds to McLean Presbyterian Church. Afternoon return time is at 3:50 p.m. (12:50 p.m. on early dismissal days).

McLean Presbyterian Church at 1020 Balls Hill Road / McLean, VA

Bus departs at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 3:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. on early dismissal days) before proceeding to Chesterbrook Shopping Center.

Door to Door Service ($2300.00 round trip per student annual fee):

Our bus will come to your door to pick up your child, as well as return him or her each afternoon. *Only in limited areas.
